Equal Opportunities & Advocacy

Aaban believes that all young people should be treated fairly and supported to do their best. This doesn’t mean that everyone will be treated the same but, instead, we help each young person to do what they want to do; help them with things that they previously found difficult or a problem. This could be help with getting back to learning and attending activities that they’re interested in.Aaban also believe that young people should have help to have their say; and have their views, wishes and feelings heard – particularly when important decisions are being made about them and their life. Each young person has a right to be listened to and have their views taken seriously.

Sometimes, it can be difficult for young people to express what they are feeling, and they might think their voice isn’t being heard. Advocacy can help with this since it is independent of Aaban.

Aaban staff or a young person’s social worker can refer them to an advocacy service, or young people can contact the service themselves to ask for help.
