Education
During their time at Aaban, each young person is offered regular education sessions with our teacher. Initially the sessions are to be one-to-one but, if appropriate, they become small group sessions. If young people are currently enrolled at an education setting (school or college) we work with each young person to make sure we are meeting the relevant educational needs and helping them work towards any qualifications and goals that they may have.
If young people are not enrolled anywhere currently, we will work with each young person to find them an appropriate place.
Education sessions at Aaban are personalised and tailored to each young person’s needs. Our goal is to help to prepare them for their next phase of education, develop their core skills and address any gaps in learning. Young people take part in a variety of learning at their level but that also stretched and challenges them. We are also registered with the Assessment and Qualifications Alliance (AQA) to deliver their accredited unit award scheme. This allows young people to engage in learning around a range of topics, have their achievements recognised formally and receive certificates that build up into a portfolio to evidence skills, knowledge and experience.
For students in Key Stage 4 and beyond, education sessions are also to be used to explore the next steps in their learning journey including college, apprenticeships and further education.
