Mutal Expectations

We will listen to each other and understand that we’re all entitled to our point of view – this doesn’t mean we have to agree.

We will take care with the words we use with each other and try to use kind words and kind language.

All other young people at Aaban are given the opportunity to review and comment on things written about them (such as care plans and risk assessments). All young people at Aaban will also be kept informed about planned meetings about their care.

Unless they’re unable to, everybody will take an active role in keeping the unit (your home) clean and tidy – including the garden area.

We will respect each other, each other’s property and the unit property.

We will respect each other’s differences and welcome that we are all different. This includes differences in religion, race, ethnicity, age, appearance, gender and sexuality. Although we’re all entitled to our point of view, offensive remarks about any of these things isn’t acceptable.

We will take care not to disturb others by making too much noise. Requests to make less noise will be polite.

Violence, of any kind, will be avoided and disagreements will be sorted out calmly and peacefully.

Staff will respond to requests promptly and keep young people informed about anything they need to be aware of.

Young people will always be given the opportunity to discuss their feelings with staff in private.

Everybody should feel safe so no one will bring drugs, alcohol or anything else known to cause harm onto the unit.
